 How to Clean NES games

Well i just got my hands on an old Nes system, and i have a bunch of games for it. i want to clean the games, so i did some research on the web and found a lot of sites (like this) that recommend using rubbing alcohol. This sounds great except that on the back of the game catridges it says NOT to clean with alcohol. I really don't want to ruin all my old NES games by cleaning them the wrong way... anyone know if its safe to use rubbing alcohol to clean the games? ;D

I've always used water and a Q-tip for doing so, but I doubt rubbing alcohol will affect it so long as you're careful. Be careful to note that certain unofficial cartridges (like Chiller) have an odd design that may make cleaning difficult.
